Dream ActIn the bill passed by the Senate, the preferential treatment with respect to residency based state tuition will no longer be given to unlawfully present aliens, unless the same benefits apply to all US citizens and permanent residents regardless of residency. Furthermore, removal of illegal aliens who entered the US under the age of 16 maybe be suspended and they may be eligible to adjust status if they have been present in the US for a continuous period of five years before the enactment of the bill, have good moral character and be admitted to a college or earned a high school diploma or GED. Recipients of the DREAM Act will have conditional permanent residence for a period of six years and may be able to remove these conditions and after removal may apply for citizenship.
